Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look — Netflix premiere on 27 August

Behind the title sits an official video presentation from Rockstar Games — and the phrase “extended look” suggests something more substantial than a standard trailer. What exactly will be shown, Rockstar isn't saying: neither the running time nor the content has been announced.

For context: GTA 6 has had two official trailers so far, but no dedicated gameplay showcase. Whether the Extended Look finally fills that gap is pure speculation — though that's exactly where most fans' expectations are pointing. Netflix bills the programme as an extended look at the game.

According to Rockstar's Newswire announcement, the Extended Look premieres on Netflix on Thursday, 27 August 2026 at 3pm ET. Converted to UK time, that's 8pm BST — a comfortable evening slot rather than the middle-of-the-night timing UK fans often get for US reveals.

Netflix has the video exclusively at first: only at 9pm ET — six hours after the premiere, which is 2am BST in the early hours of Friday 28 August — does it also appear on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the GTA VI website. No Netflix subscription? You only have to wait a few hours, or simply catch it on YouTube over breakfast on Friday.

Independent of the Extended Look, the core GTA 6 facts stand: release on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, digital preload from 12 November 2026, and pre-orders open since 25 June 2026 at £69.99 (Standard) and £89.99 (Ultimate) in the UK.

Pre-ordering secures the Vintage Vice City Pack (digital until 20 November 2026, physical while stocks last). A PC version remains unannounced. The Extended Look announcement changes none of this.

The most striking part is the distribution route: for the first time, Rockstar is debuting new GTA 6 material on Netflix rather than on its own channels — a partnership under which Netflix members get to see the material first, as Netflix's VP of nonfiction series Brandon Riegg put it.

In practical terms: if you want to watch live, you'll need a Netflix account at 8pm on 27 August. Everyone else can watch free on YouTube a few hours later — realistically on Friday morning for most UK fans. Landing roughly twelve weeks before the 19 November 2026 release, the Extended Look is now the biggest scheduled GTA 6 event on the calendar.
