GTA 6 Ultimate Edition: is it worth £20 more than Standard?

There are two editions, and only two. The Standard Edition is £69.99, the Ultimate Edition £89.99, so the gap is exactly £20. Those are the PlayStation Store UK prices, and the Xbox Store matches them. There is no Deluxe, Gold or Collector's tier above Ultimate. UK retailers such as Amazon.co.uk, Argos, GAME, Currys and Smyths list the boxed code-in-box version; their prices may differ from the store RRP and we make no promises about stock.

Rockstar's own descriptions are short. The Standard Edition 'features a single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet'. The Ultimate Edition 'amplifies this experience with an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story'. That is the full official distinction. No early access, no extra story chapter, no season pass has been announced. The Ultimate Edition is the same game plus a bundle of extras.

Rockstar has not published the item list in a press release. It comes from the pre-order materials on the official GTA VI site, as reported by Vice and compiled by GTABase, so treat the details below as reported rather than confirmed. Vehicles: a '95 Grotti Cheetah, a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with the Paradise Garage, a Dinka Enduro motorbike, a Shitzu Squalo boat and a Crest Kayak. Weapons: Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers plus Girardi ES9 and Klose K17 custom pistols. Apparel: the Vice City Style Pack and the Goodtime Gear Pack, alongside a Ganada Retro Build mod kit.

The list also mentions access to five businesses (Rideout Customs, One-Eyed Willie's, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305 and Electric Fang Tattoo) and two side missions, 'PTT Youngin$ Illegal Goods Store' and 'Classic Car Collection Commission'. Nobody outside Rockstar knows how long those missions are, or whether the shops are permanently exclusive or merely unlocked earlier. What stands out is that none of it sounds like main-story content. Whether the extras are purely cosmetic or carry gameplay advantages cannot be judged before launch.

This is where most of the confusion sits. The Vintage Vice City Pack is not an Ultimate exclusive. Take-Two's wording is that all GTA VI pre-orders and purchases before 20 November 2026 include it, which covers a Standard Edition bought digitally on launch day just as much as an Ultimate pre-order placed in June. For the boxed code-in-box version the bonus is tied to the printed stock, so it applies while supplies last.

According to Vice, the pack contains a '55 Vapid Stanier with a garage, retro outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and a tropical weapon finish inspired by Tommy Vercetti. Cosmetic, not game-changing. Rockstar has officially confirmed only that the pack exists and who qualifies; the itemised contents come from press coverage. The only date that matters is 20 November 2026: buy after that and, on current information, you miss out regardless of edition. Whether the pack will ever be sold separately has not been said.

Every digital pre-order placed before 20 November 2026 includes one month of GTA+, Rockstar's subscription for GTA Online. Again, that is true of both editions, so it is not a reason to go Ultimate. The catch is that the subscription auto-renews once the month is up, at £6.99 a month in the UK. If you have no interest in GTA Online, set a reminder the day you activate it. You can cancel at any point during the free month without losing the remaining days; cancellation runs through your console's subscription settings rather than through Rockstar.

You mainly want the story of Jason and Lucia. Buy Standard. On everything known so far, you lose no main-story mission, no area of Leonida and no feature. You still get the Vintage Vice City Pack as a pre-order customer, and the GTA+ month if you buy digitally. Put the £20 towards PSN or Xbox credit instead, and see how to buy GTA 6 cheaper for the gift-card route. If the extras tempt you after launch, the upgrade path should still be there.

You collect cars, dress your characters and want every side activity ticked off. The £20 is reasonable value if the reported list is accurate: five vehicles, three weapons, two clothing packs, five shops and two missions is more than many publishers bundle into a deluxe tier. The two side missions and the shop access are the parts you would notice missing after finishing the game; the vehicles are more likely a matter of style than performance. If you plan to see every corner of Leonida anyway, this is where the £20 earns its keep.

You are undecided. Pre-order Standard and wait. The PlayStation Store already lists a separate 'Ultimate Edition Upgrade' add-on, currently without a price and marked unavailable. If it ends up costing the usual price difference, you lose nothing by holding off, though that is not guaranteed. For context, Sensor Tower has reportedly estimated that around 89% of pre-orders are for the Ultimate Edition. That is a third-party estimate, not a Take-Two figure, and it says nothing about whether the edition suits you.

Mostly no, with one caveat. The 'physical' version of GTA 6 is a box containing a download code, not a disc; Take-Two confirmed that in June. It reaches shops from 12 November 2026 so buyers can redeem the code and preload. Whether the Ultimate Edition exists in boxed form at all has not been confirmed, so if you want Ultimate, digital is the safe plan. No. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has announced a Collector's Edition, a steelbook or any limited boxed set. GTA V had a Special Edition and a Collector's Edition back in 2013, which is why many expect one, but nothing has been revealed. Listings on eBay or other marketplaces promising a 'GTA 6 Collector's Edition' with a figure, a map or a steelbook are fan-made items or outright fakes, and paying up front for them is a bad idea.
